A project inspired by an idea proposed by the brothers Maurizio and Davide Riva, was first opened in Cantù, Northern Italy, in 2001. After several years of careful planning, this project came to fruition thanks to the commitment and the many years of dedicated research and restoration of more than two thousand historic woodworking machines and hand tools.

Objects from all over the world and different periods can be seen in a permanent exhibition in Cantù in a dedicated “Museum of Wood”. The museum is also home to tools and machines from about 1700 onwards. The Museum is open to all those wanting to learn about the origins of RIVA 1920 and more: above all the museum represents and illustrates the history and development of the furniture industry in Cantù and the wider Brianza region, celebrated throughout the world for the production of furniture of the highest quality.
